My First Visit
On your first visit, you will be able to sit down with Dr. Armour and cover your complete health history. Every new patient receives a Static EMG test. (It is similar to the EKG test done for the heart) It reads electrical activity of the muscles. The great thing about this test is that it shows muscle imbalance even if there are no symptoms (pain).
He then will do a complete orthopedic and neurologic examination designed to find the root cause of your pain or illness.
Dr. Armour and his staff are trained in x-ray techniques and in order to make an accurate diagnosis may need to take x-rays of your back or neck. Only after this initial examination will Dr. Armour tell you whether or not he believes chiropractic care can help you.
If Dr. Armour does not think chiropractic is right for you, or if co-care is needed, he will not hesitate to refer you to the appropriate care giver.
Next, Dr. Armour will give you a complete report of what was found during your examination and review any x-rays. If Dr. Armour believes chiropractic care will help, he will offer a recommended course of treatment. The length and time of treatment will be based on the analysis of your initial examination, and how well you respond to treatment. Your treatment will consist of chiropractic adjustments and may also consist of various therapies and rehabilitation.
He will give you several options of care, including plans for handling the immediate discomfort and also for a long term plan, if more corrective care is needed.
Just so you know, most people respond and start feeling better withing the first few weeks of care. It then depends on what you want Chiropractic to "do for you"!. If you are interested in Symptom/Pain relief, when the pain is gone, you will be released from care.
If you are interested in Corrective/Stabilization care, Dr. Armour will explain a program of care for you after your symptoms have been reduced. Most people do well if they are getting adjusted on a monthly basis to continue to stabilize the correction you have received.
